The Internet Is Blowing Up Over Ranveer Singh Romancing 20-Year-Old Sara Arjun In 'Dhurandhar'

I saw the Dhurandhar first look teaser yesterday, dropped by Ranveer Singh on his 40th birthday, and while the visuals had all the high-octane energy I was expecting, there was one thing that completely hijacked the internet’s attention: the fact that Ranveer’s opposite lead is 20-year-old Sara Arjun.

The teaser’s been out for barely a heartbeat, and it’s already everywhere. Not just because it looks like a slick, high-stakes thriller or because of Ranveer’s feral avatar, but because of that age gap. Ranveer is 40. Sara is 20. And yeah, the internet has a lot of thoughts.

And I mean, a lot.

Sara Arjun’s name might not be familiar to everyone in the Hindi belt, but she’s been around. Born in 2005, she started acting in ads before she turned two, made her big-screen debut in Tamil films, and went on to appear in Hindi projects like Ek Thi Daayan and Jazbaa. She’s had quite the resume as a child artist, and that’s part of what’s fuelling the debate.

Dhurandhar is reportedly based on an original story. Word on the internet is that it’s loosely inspired by Ajit Doval, you know, India’s OG super spy and current National Security Advisor.

Some people are trying to reason that the Ranveer–Sara pairing is all part of the plot. Maybe it’s a fake identity situation, maybe she’s a key to the mission, maybe there’s no romance at all.

But judging by the very specific shots that got everyone side-eyeing, the internet’s not entirely convinced.

I mean, Bollywood pulling the older-man-younger-woman move isn’t new. It’s been called out more times than anyone can count, and it ties into a much bigger conversation about ageism, especially when it comes to who gets to play the love interest. And so far, there’s still no clear answer—just a pattern that keeps repeating.

But the internet? Very much not over it. Between the memes, the hot takes, and the collective “did we learn nothing?” energy, the age-gap debate is back in the spotlight, and this time, people aren’t letting it slide.

Dhurandhar hits theatres on December 5, and I have a feeling a lot of us will be showing up just to see whether Sara and Ranveer are actually in a romance… or if it’s all just spy plot smoke and mirrors.
